Occasionally in the WideRange admin you may run across an error that says "Duplicate data entry prevented..." In a nutshell what is happening here is that the admin is preventing a re-save of previously-saved data. It's preventing data from being overwritten or even erased.
The most common times you may see this is if you save a page and then immediately refresh the page. Or, if you press your browser back button and return to a previously saved page. Finally, if you are working with the admin open in two browser windows/tabs (which you should not do) you may run into this problem.
Occasionally I've heard from clients who seem to have the “duplicate data” error stuck and they can't get rid of it. In this case the exact cause is not quite clear, but it is a browser cache issue – it’s like a stuck cache. Here are some steps you can take to clear this:
- First, I’d recommend to log out of the admin (from the “LOG OUT” link at the top right) and close the window.
- Next, please empty your browser cache (not the history, but the cache — and all the cache, not just recent cache). Here are instructions if you’re not familiar with emptying the cache: lifewire.com/how-to-clear-cache-2617980
- In some cases, clearing the browser history has solved the issue.
- Then quit the browser, restart it, and log back in to the admin.
👉 If all else fails, a short term solution is to log in and use the admin in a private window (or "incognito" window), or use a different browser.
